Induction Day for Year 8 is an exciting step into a new chapter of school life, filled with anticipation and fresh opportunities. As students walk through the doors, they are greeted with a sense of familiarity but also the promise of new challenges ahead. The day kicks off with a warm welcome from teachers and peers, easing any nerves and setting a positive tone.
Students are introduced to their new subjects, timetables, and extracurricular options, sparking excitement about the year’s possibilities. Icebreaker activities help them reconnect with old friends and make new ones, fostering a sense of community. The day is also an opportunity to meet new teachers, explore upcoming projects, and set goals for the year.
By the end of Induction Day, students leave feeling inspired and confident, ready to embrace the journey that Year 8 holds. It’s not just an introduction to a new school year but a celebration of the growth and opportunities to come.

AIM HIGH PARENT ORIENTATION- KEY STAGE 3

The AIM HIGH ORIENTATION for Key Stage 3 parents, held on August 30th, 2024, was a pivotal step in fostering a strong partnership between
home and school. Parents were welcomed and introduced to the leadership teams, gaining valuable insights into academics, curriculum, digital
citizenship, safeguarding, and personalised care and support. The event also highlighted the importance of assessments, career pathways, and
enrichment programs. Our student volunteers led, showcasing how they learn and aspire at The Winchester School. The event was a great
success, with parents appreciating the collaborative efforts and dedication behind it. We sincerely thank our parents for their active participation and
look forward to working together to ensure a successful year ahead.

9th September 2024
In celebration of World Literacy Day, we highlighted the importance of digital literacy and online responsibilities. KS3
students engaged in meaningful discussions about online safety and research skills. They explored strategies to help them navigate the
digital world responsibly while enhancing their academic performance, preparing them for future careers in a technology-driven society.
They also dove into fun and creative activities like book reviews, genre posters, and shared their favorite reads. Thanks a lot, Key
Stage 3 Team, for empowering the students to become responsible global citizens and lifelong through these initiatives,
students engaged in meaningful discussions about online safety and research skills. They explored strategies to help them navigate the

Year 8A took the lead in an engaging assembly on ‘World Clean-Up Day’, sparking awareness about turning waste into art. The
session was thoughtfully crafted to highlight the creative possibilities of upcycling and the importance of keeping our planet clean. The
participation in the assembly was extended to the whole cohort, encouraging the students of all the sections to be creative and share
their ideas. With imaginative demonstrations, the students captivated the audience, showcasing stunning examples of painting, using
waste materials to create artefacts and delivering a speech – all of it connected with various art forms to environmental consciousness.
A dynamic presentation visually linked the theme of art and waste, further driving home the message of the day, 4Rs – Reduce,
Reuse, Recycle and Recover. The audience eagerly participated, and the positive feedback shared on Padlet was a testament to the
assembly’s success. This event not only entertained but also inspired students to reflect on the importance of ‘World Clean Up Day’ and
the value of sustainability in everyday life. Brilliant job, Ms. Akila and the students of Year 8A, appreciate other Form Tutors too

Aims & Objectives: To make donations to the support staff of the school in order to appreciate their hard work and
support them.
Ramadan is a month full of rewards, and the reward of any good deed we perform is multiplied manifold. Charity is
considered a beautiful, highly rewarding and important act all year round. With the aim to inculcate strong values of sharing
what we can to bring smiles to our brethren, the students of year 7, with the help of Form tutors and HOYs, made
appreciation cards and donations to the support staff, aiming to support them and make them feel happy and appreciated.
The students greeted them kindly and gave them the appreciation cards and took pictures with them. The joy on the faces of
the giver and the receiver spoke volumes of the values inculcated. Well done, Year 7 students, Form Tutors and HOYs –

Aims & Objectives: To raise awareness about linguistic diversity, promote cultural appreciation and
celebrating mother languages, create a sense of inclusivity, and encourage a positive attitude towards
multilingualism.
“International Mother Language Day is observed every year to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and
multilingualism.” Students of Y7I organized an assembly to celebrate Mother Language Day and the importance of
mother tongue in everyday life. They introduced the topic, followed by interesting videos and posters. They discussed
multicultural perspectives to celebrate the diversity of languages around the world. The role play showed their talent in
oratory skills in their mother language. It also showed how some people can face difficulties in their lives due to
insufficient knowledge of the Regional Language. The students also shared guidelines for learning other languages.

Exploring the beauty of French language & culture

To promote acceptance, respect and care among students diverse backgrounds
The Assembly was conducted on Monday the 26 th of February 2024. The main objective of the assembly was to increase
the school’s understanding and appreciation of the francophone world by finding interesting and entertaining ways of looking at how
French. The assembly and kick start by welcoming the audience and introducing the topic through introducing important facts about the
French country such as its origin, and some unique facts about the country. A quick look on the French cuisines were showcased to
the students through posters and trivia. To deepen their appreciation, a video was played to show how to prepare French toast. The
famous poem, “Demain des l’aube” by Victor Hugo was translated to English language for the audience better appreciate Normandy’s
countryside. Followed by presentation of a short skit showing students learning the language through the app Duolingo. Finally, a
showcase of talent from the student through an amazing piano interpretation of the song, “Golden Hour”. The assembly culminated in
with seeking feedbacks from the audience and measuring the impact of the presentation on them through use of padlet app.

accepted and valued.
The International Day of Happiness aims to make people around the world realize the importance of happiness within their
lives. It serves as a reminder to prioritize happiness and wellbeing, not just for themselves but for those around them. The Day was
celebrated by Key Stage 3 students and teachers by wearing YELLOW, the bright, cheerful colour associated with joy and optimism.
The day turned out to be a perfect way to spread happiness throughout the school and create a fun and positive atmosphere for the
students and teachers. Moreover, students were encouraged to engage in various activities including: practice gratitude - reflect on the
things you are thankful for, big or small; spread kindness – volunteer their time to perform a random act of kindness, or simply offer a
smile to someone who might need it; connect with loved ones - spend quality time with family and friends, strengthening your social
bonds; do something you enjoy as a family - go out in nature, cook, create a family bucket list, play bingo, pray together, shop together,
plant a tree together; and calling out to WIN family to share their happy moments with us - FAMILY FIRST. A big thank you to all the

To develop values of perseverance and optimism and assume responsibility with a focus on learning and team
work.
Virtual assembly was conducted by the students of Year 7H on ‘ Our Journey So Far’. The assembly
encapsulated the experiences and journey of the students in Year 7. They incorporated different facets of
student life as witnessed by them this year. The assembly included role plays, personal opinions, student
interviews, a song and also an instrumental performance by the students. Majority of the students participated
with enthusiasm and worked as a team to put in their best. It was an excellent opportunity for students to
express themselves and present their talent. The performances were initiated, planned and executed by the
students. A big thank you to Heads of Year Ms. Meena, Ms. Trupti and Ms. Nirmal for encouraging and recognizing
the extraordinary achievements and acts of kindness within our school community.

Aims & Objectives: To promote awareness on celebrating children in the UAE by reiterating their rights to safety and wellbeing.
The assembly was about celebration of children across UAE. Throughout the play, the students presented several situations that reiterated the rights entitled to children and the significance of safe guarding their wellbeing. Students presented a skit about the rights of female students in attending school and enjoying equal opportunities. Other students spoke about the significance of Wadeema’s Law and spoke of the several provisions in the UAE that gives supreme importance to the wellbeing of children. In the second half of the assembly, students presented several achievements of Year 7 students across all sections. The children got an opportunity to know of the several inter-disciplinary events their batchmates participate in and to know of their wonderful achievements. Overall, the assembly was well organized and engaging.

To recognize the symptoms of bronchial asthma, understand common triggers and allergies, and demonstrate knowledge of precautions and management strategies to mitigate the impact of asthma and allergies
The virtual assembly was conducted by Dr. Mozhgan Khademipour on ‘Bronchial Asthma & Allergy awareness’. The assembly encapsulated how can we identify bronchial asthma, recognize symptoms of allergic reactions, understand the importance of a healthy diet in managing asthma and allergies, and demonstrate knowledge of the food pyramid.
The presentation incorporated different features of a healthy diet and benefits of healthy food. The assembly included illustrative diagrams-like the food pyramid, a food plate/eat well guide- benefits of healthy food and a balanced diet, a video about ‘what should we do in any case of allergic reaction’. It was an amazing opportunity for students to understand and be aware of allergic reactions. In addition, the presentation was exceptionally described by our school doctor, Dr. Mozhgan Khademipour.

Aims & Objectives: To facilitate a collaborative exchange of family recipes within the school community, culminating in the creation of a school Recipe Book - WIN Culinary Chronicles, fostering connection and exploration of diverse culinary traditions among families.
Year 7 students were encouraged to embrace sustainability while fostering bonding moments through their preparation of eco-friendly salads. parents recorded videos and share on toss, mix, and innovate with their loved ones in our "Greens for Generations". Parents were also motivated to bring sustainability to the forefront as they craft delicious salads using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Students also shared their favourite recipes with the school community.

Aims & Objectives: To emphasise monitoring of uniform consistency, tardiness, student ID, hair style and hair colour.To promote emotional, physical and social wellbeing.
The Assembly was conducted on Monday the 23rd of May 2024. The objective of the assembly was to increase the emphasis on monitoring uniform consistency in all Year 7 students, and to promote emotional, physical and social being. Two student representatives were assigned in each sections to conduct the session from presentation to playing the board game of Well Being Monopoly to PERMAH module Minecraft. Audience had a hands-on experience of tackling the six areas of the PERMAH module through variety of questions scenarios prepared by the students. Similarly, the board game shows students how big events and decisions in life will impact their well-being. Followed by presentation on importance of wearing the right school uniform as per the school policy. A short video from YEAR 7G discussing the importance and benefits of having a dress code in schools and to children, parent and other stakeholders. The assembly culminated in with seeking feedbacks from the audience and measuring the impact of the assembly.
